Flip open any shelter magazine these days and you see Mid-Century Modern furniture, pretty much in every feature. Personally, I'm not a fan of rooms totally dedicated to this aesthetic, however choice pieces used within the rooms visually create a more appealing design and more importantly, a feeling of homliness.
Paul McCobb understood this, which is why I think he was so successful. The furniture designs are minimal in lines but somehow manage to evoke comfort and are very user friendly.

We have now embraced a new romantic era where we crave all things that are rough hewn, a giant leap back to nature. Not only are we reclaiming distressed materials but the most desired items are in their most primitive, raw state.

Jewelry Design - My Work

Necklace: Enamelled copper pieces with copper chains, glass and ceramic beads.

My background is in textiles, yarn actually, but I've always loved jewelry. The love affair began and still continues with vintage and tribal or anything with a vintage vibe.
Throughout the years I've collected many pieces, took ones that were broken apart and made new pieces.
There was always a curiosity about how jewelry was made, so one weekend I enrolled in a Jewelry I at a community college and continued on with many other courses including casting and enamelling.
This does not exclude my love of fine jewelry, but my real love is "distressed chic"...a hippy at heart.
Below are a few pieces that I've designed and fabricated in a variety of ways, mixing it all up together.

Current Obsession - Colour Blocked Walls

For the longest time I've wanted to paint certain walls in our house by colour blocking, either to bring the eye upwards or to highlight a small nook or antique mirror.
The walls in my sitting room off the kitchen have plate rails as this space was a formal dining room before we did renovations. We had bleached the oak and washed the wood to lighten the texture and colour.
Below are examples I've collected illustrating how this technique is effective in enhancing furniture and accessories.
Luckily, Photoshop can help you envision what the project outcome would look like.
I am still, at this point, tinkering with the idea of how much or how little to put on the walls.
