Starting with a trickle in July, the stores tease us with what is ahead for the fall. By now, we are inundated with fall fashion in deep rich colors and cozy styles.
Boyfriend cardigans, open front wraps and the most prominent trend this season, the cape poncho.
Throughout the fall, I will feature posts with 5 easy pieces, key wardrobe pieces including cardigans, pullovers and ponchos.
Cardigans to me are the main component of the wardrobe. They have taken over from the structured jacket in a lot of women's minds.
Not only do these pieces add color and finish to a look, they can create a soft, flattering shape.
Styling with a cardigan can be casual with jeans and yet rise to a more dressy occasion just by adjusting such accessories as scarves and jewelry.
From classic worsted yarn weights to super bulky outdoor wear, there are five easy pieces to consider for your fall wardrobe.
Happy Knitting!

Needlecrafts - Crochet, Brimming with Boho Style

Needlecrafts - Crochet, Bohohats
For the most part, I don't wear hats. It's not that I don't like them, especially the slouchy beanies. The truth is they just don't suit me.
This coming fall season, envy no more. The 70's were back on the runways in a big way, especially highlighting the boho chic look.
One doesn't have to adopt the whole bohemian layered look, especially if you were around the first time. The brimmed hat seems to suit just about everybody from the small brimmed bucket style to the wide brimmed fedora. Paired with capes, ponchos or wide wraps, this hat lends itself well to a bohemian vibe. A stylish way to keep warm, to be sure. Read further for different styles of the brimmed hat. Add to the brim of the bucket style or omit rows on the wider brim. Also, be sure to read the tutorials on personalizing your hat with a distinctive hatband. Boho chic is a relaxed style, one I've always been drawn to, especially in accessories.

There's something about scrap yarn projects, whether knit or crochet that draws my eye, with it's humble yet very unique finish.
Of course, there is the happy melding of colors, but I've seen examples where you would have thought the outcome would be disastrous and yet the placement of colors turned out amazing.
Several design ideas are highlighted in the inspiration images above but any favorite pattern you already have whether knit or crochet will do just fine. More importantly, you are using up small amounts of yarn that live deep in your closet, somewhere, never to see the light of day. Another thought is to gather all these bits and have them available to craft with on rainy days, whether at home or at the cottage. Always handy and a good way to bust boredom. Featured below are several easy projects, fun to do and you just may end up learning a new craft or two .
Traditionally, one thinks of scrap yarn for blankets or afghans.
The blankets featured above are lovely examples of cozy throws to wrap up in while reading a good book.
Though, as much as I love to crochet and knit, there are times when you want something to do that's easy and quickly ready to enjoy. Be sure to read further for fun projects to try and for the diehard, free knit and crochet hat patterns. There is definitely something for everyone using up bits and pieces of yarn.
