For the past month and a half, the Fall/Winter 2015-16 Collections were presented by designers in the major fashion capitals, New York, London, Milan and Paris.
As much as fashion addicts around the world anticipate what will be coming down the runways, street fashion worn by fashionistas, whether they are editors or fashion students can be just as influential as witnessed by all the photographers on the streets.
How knitwear is accessorized, colors chosen, and actual styles worn is very revealing as these are real people wearing real clothes, sometimes enlightening both the public and designers of emerging street trends.
Street fashionistas love to display their own personal style, which can translate into or inspire store windows, garment styling and color pairing.

The following images definitely inspired me by detail, color and garment style.

Needlecrafts - Knit, Making of a Swoncho

Needlecrafts,Knit - Making of a Swoncho
Most definitely the poncho is easy to wear. Throw it on and you're good to go and therefore, a good reason to knit one. Add sleeves and you have an easy sweater poncho or swoncho. What's considered outerwear becomes an essential garment.
The easy shape can be made in a variety of yarns - cotton for the spring and summer to the bulkiest of yarns keeping you toasty in the winter. This winter, of course was an exception. One had to hibernate to keep warm. Two basic rectangles with picking up stitches on both sides for sleeves and voila you have a lovely cover-up.
Consider what length and width works for you and whether you want a plain neckline or a built in turtleneck. Think convertible and make a cowl to throw on top of a plain neckline - the choices are endless Read further for the schematics and free pattern of basic, simple shapes and be sure to read the past post below for more information and free pattern.

Halo Swaddle Sack | available for purchase here
Sleep sacks, swaddle sacks, cosy sacks, whatever name you call these "fitted" blankets, moms seem to feel these are a safer alternative to larger blankets. Make sure you consider the following when making your sleep sack: 1. The sleep sack fits your baby properly. 2. The bag part of the garment to be long enough for your baby to rest comfortably, but not too big which could allow your baby to wiggle down into the bag.
3. Consider the weight of the sleep sack fabric because, although you don’t want your baby to get cold, overheating can also be a problem. Parents really like the "snuggliness" of baby sleep sacks without worry that their baby can move all they want and not get anything over their face. Read further for a variety of sacks that you can recycle from t shirts, knit, crochet or sew. There are several options I will be deciding about for the two babies expected in July, a delight in our family.

Right now designers are showing their collections for Fall/Winter 2015-16. It's always interesting to see if there's any new or unique details that can be incorporated into knitting and crochet.
Knitwear seems to go through cycles like everything else and at this time last year, knitwear was featured in all shapes, mainly oversized. Even sweatpant styles showed up as knitwear. Definitely comfortable and soft. This year Sportmax, little sister to Max Mara has an interesting take on the cowl turned down on the shoulders and the wide, long sleeves accented with fringe.
A free pattern which looks a lot like this style is available from Lana Grossa, just right for modifying if you want to exaggerate the neckline and sleeves. Read further for the schematics and some suggestions in modifying this pattern.
