One of the easiest ways to recycle denim is to make a bag.
Consider carefully the end product, how you wish the finished bag to look, whether you desire a very casual bohemian look or a more finished chic bag.
Patchwork, embellishment and destroyed surfaces appeal to a variety of tastes by giving the denim fabric a distinct surface to work with.
You can recreate the denim fabric by bleaching, painting, embellishing with rhinestones, embroidery, studding or any other type of treatment you see that inspires you.

The denim allows you to create your own designer bag.

One designer bag that stands out is Stella McCartney's Falabella bag.
Due to the designer's strong vegan beliefs all bags are made of fabric or simulated leather.
Denim would be the perfect interpretation for this style bag, the chains giving the urban chic finish.

  1. Well,I will tell you that I made the woven denim bag with the western belt and it came out pretty nice. But, unless you have a heavy duty sewing machine it is really hard to sew through all those pieces.

    1. Hi Melody,
I'm really glad the bag turned and can certainly empathize with the stitch struggle. I'm sure the bag looks fantastic and the effort was worth it.
      All the best,

Thank you for your kind compliment.
The bags in the introductory image are there for inspiration only and therefore, unfortunately, do not have a pattern.
There are many other lovely tutorials to choose from which are easy and fun to do.
All the best with your project,
      Daria

  3. Most newer machines can handle some pretty thick stuff. I always use a size 18 needle and just go slow and easy.

    1. Hi,
Starting a business is tricky at best and being a newbie to sewing makes it harder. It would be best to hone your basic skills, including professional finishing. See what you like sewing as this will determine what you hope to sell.
      All the best,
      Daria
